Welcome,
My staff and I are at your service. We would enjoy meeting with you and want to be available to you in any way that we can be helpful. I would like to share with you information about me regarding my personal and professional life.
I have been a life long resident of Breaux Bridge. I am one of 15 children, and my parents were Pauline Blanchard, Sr. and Alice LeBlanc Blanchard. I was raised on a farm and worked on the farm until I graduated from Breaux Bridge High School in 1958. I attended USL for a couple of years then went to work full time.
I am married to Georgie Zeringue Blanchard, and we have four children and 12 grandchildren. We have been blessed with a wonderful family and are very proud of our children and grandchildren. We live on 50 acres of property that was originally for my grandparents. At one time my son and I farmed part-time, but at the present we lease the property for sugar cane. We still raise cattle and one of my summer hobbies is baling hay.
I enjoy hunting, and for many years have hunted deer and duck in the Basin. Georgie and I also have a camp at Butte La Rose, and we enjoy the time we spend there with family and friends. Georgie loves to fish, and I love to hunt. Not bad. If we are lucky, we have an abundance of seafood and wildlife on the table.
I served for 22 years in the Louisiana National Guard and retired in 1979 with the rank of Major. I commanded Company A, 3rd Battalion, 256 Infantry Division. I also served at battalion staff level, and prior to retirement was the Brigade Logistical Officer. In 1970, I was selected the Outstanding Unit Commander for the state of Louisiana.
Prior to being elected as Clerk, I worked in the St. Martin Parish Assessor's office for 27 years and was the Chief Deputy Assessor for 15 years. On a daily basis I worked with the public in the Assessor's office and felt I had the background to be effective as Clerk of Court. I was elected Clerk of Court in 1995. I ran unopposed in 1999 and 2004.
It is a privilege to serve as Clerk of Court for St. Martin Parish. I appreciate the public trust and my staff and I are continuously looking for ways to improve the office and to better serve the public. When you are at the courthouse please come by for a visit. I keep two rockers in my office and always look forward to visits from friends.
